At House of Hope Uganda our passion is to support and lift up patients and caregivers at the Uganda Cancer Institute not only because it's the right thing to do, but because it is also the best road forward to a brighter healthier future for us all.
Fact: Over 37,000 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed this year at the Uganda Cancer Institute in Kampala. Because most of these cases arrive at UCI as the cancer is in its last devastating stage, about 80% of those people will die within 12 months.
Fact: Cancer will kill more Ugandans than all communicable diseases COMBINED, including diseases like Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis.
Experts think that 25% of all GLOBAL cancers are caused directly from exposure to infectious diseases, which means the cancer research that is happening at UCI in Uganda is of critical importance to everyone in unlocking the secrets to finding cures.
The problem is complex, growing and extremely real.
