House of Hope Uganda:   what we do and why we do it.

90% of cancer patients in Uganda are diagnosed while in their final stages of the disease. Many travel long distances to the Uganda Cancer Institute to receive their chance at life-saving treatments, and once they arrive they have nowhere to stay in Kampala during and between treatments.  They come from remote villages and from neighboring countries.

By bus, boda boda motorcyles, taxi, bicycle, and foot, they travel along bumpy roads that sometimes do not have names.

It is the goal of House of Hope Uganda to build a Family House that is nearby to the Uganda Cancer Institute that provides a "home away from home" for patients who have nowhere else to go for shelter and protection from the elements.  This will help keep families together and ensure that life-saving treatments continue on schedule.
